Ukraine and Poland Discuss Cooperation in Subsoil Use

Ukraine and Poland have discussed opportunities for cooperation in subsoil use. Participants focused on regulatory changes, partnership development in the mineral resources sector, and investment opportunities for Polish businesses. The Director General of the Ukrainian Geological Survey (UGS), Oleh Hotsynets, held a working meeting with a Polish delegation led by Andrzej Dycha, Chairman of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH). The discussion covered opportunities for Polish business participation in Ukrainian extractive projects and mechanisms for attracting investment.

The meeting also addressed subsoil use regulation and procedures for obtaining special permits through electronic auctions and production-sharing agreements, as well as cooperation prospects in extracting energy and critical raw materials.

The Polish side confirmed its interest in strengthening cooperation with Ukraine. Participation of Polish companies in extractive projects could provide a new impetus for bilateral relations and the introduction of innovative technologies in the sector.

Earlier, at an industry forum, Oleh Hotsynets highlighted investment opportunities in the critical raw materials and hydrocarbons sectors.

Background:

The Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) – is an advisory body within the Polish Development Fund Group under the Ministry of Development and Technology. Its main goal is to support Polish companies internationally and foreign companies planning to do business in Poland. PAIH has offices in 70 countries worldwide.

Since the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, PAIH has actively supported Ukrainian businesses and coordinated Polish business participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction.
